5th Consortium Meeting in Tbilisi
DARE's 5th Consortium Meeting:
November 20-23, 2017Sokhumi State University, Tbilisi Georgia
20-21 of November 2017
Ilia State University, Tbilisi Georgia
22-23 of November 2017
The first part of the consortium meeting was beautifully hosted by Sokhumi State University, Tbilisi, Georgia. This part of the meeting was attended by over 120 participants, among them the representatives of universities from 9 countries, UNICEF, the Erasmus + Georgia Office, NGOs and others. Like our Dissemination Day back in April, we were once again supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, with the participation of the Head of Department HE & Science, as well as the Ministry’s new Head of Inclusive Education Development Division. The conference attracted over 40 papers and an excellent plenary presentation was given by Prof Michal Shany of the University of Haifa on learning disabilities and ADHD. We would like to thank Prof Zurab Khonelidze, Rector of Sokhumi State University who extended such a warm welcome to the DARE team. Of course, the event would not have been such a triumph had it not been for the efforts of Lia and her team of capable staff, in planning the programme, reviewing the papers submitted in English and getting them translated into Georgian, and printed and distrubuted.
Following the excitement of sharing good practices from the DARE project within the broader Georgian context, the DARE family regrouped to continue their work this time hosted beautifully by Ilia State University (22-23 November). After morning business meetings we split into groups to discuss outputs that could be produced on the topics of ethnic minorities, disabilities, online courses and training materials. The handbook contents were discussed and agreed within the groups and Prof Hanan Alexander would write an introduction with a rationale of the DARE projects. The second focus of the meeting was the self reporting protocols completed in preparation for QA field monitoring. They were presented and commented on in a session run by Prof Palmira Juceviciene. Partners were asked to revise and resubmit by early February. The meeting finished with more homework to follow-- looking forward to seeing the results!
